BT is looking for young talent to join a growing area of its business which is changing the way engineers work.

The new recruits will be working for Pelipod, a company based at Birmingham Business Park, near Solihull, which produces and monitors thousands of ‘intelligent’ locked parcel boxes across the UK.

They will work as apprentices in a wide range of areas, including systems development, sales, business operations, product design, and research and development, and at the end of a three-year apprenticeship be offered a full-time job in one of those areas.

More information about these and other opportunities is available from www.bt.com/apprentices

Successful candidates will start at Pelipod in October 2018 and will be chosen from those applying for roles in IT and Business Management.

Over the past 12 months, Pelipod has trebled its workforce from five to 15.

The rugged, polycarbonate Pelipod boxes - usually secured to an object, such as a wall – are in convenient locations which allow parts to be collected in the best, most efficient way. Every delivery and collection is recorded and only a person with the right code can enter a box. BT is one of Pelipod’s biggest customers.

The business was bought by BT in September 2016 and is run by managing director, Karl Wills, who launched Pelipod in 2013.

Karl Wills said: “By simplifying the supply chain and reducing the time it takes to receive spares, we aim to make it faster for engineers to install new services and repair faults, and at the same time help BT – and other companies - to further reduce their carbon footprint.

“Our plan is to make use of BT’s presence in more than 5,000 properties, so that we’ll be within 15 minutes of most engineering communities in the UK.”
