BT Fleet opens new HGV garage in Cardiff to support customers

BT’s award-winning fleet management company Fleet Solutions is responding to the needs of its customers and the broader industry around Cardiff by launching a new HGV garage in the city.

The new HGV capability has been added to the Cardiff garage by refitting another BT building. The move means the company can now service and support fleets with HGVs and provide a more consistent, high level service to customers across the area, including long-standing customer Wales & West Utilities.

Managing director of BT Fleet Solutions, Henry Brace commented: “The investment in HGV capabilities at Cardiff is one of many ways we are listening to our customers and making changes to provide a more comprehensive service. Our customers want as many of their vehicles as possible to be maintained in a Fleet Solutions garage and I am proud that today, around 80 per cent of our customers’ vehicles pass through our garages.

“However, we want to increase this number and be a one-stop-shop for fleets comprised of varying vehicles. Opening this HGV garage in Cardiff increases our capability for customers such as Wales & West Utilities, enabling us to bring the full Fleet Solutions service to them.”

Located in Coryton, the garage is easily accessed via the M4, providing easy transport links to the rural area and further afield across Wales – a factor that was important for Wales & West Utilities.

Andy Pettiford, Transport Manager at Wales & West Utilities commented: “It’s great news that BT Fleet Solutions is opening this new HGV facility in Cardiff. Wales & West Utilities relies on the company to provide fleet management and maintenance across Wales and the South West of England. Cardiff is a particularly busy area for us – this workshop looks after nearly 150 of our vans and adding the new capability to look after our trucks too is great for us.

“We work closely together to minimise downtime, as our fleet is needed to look after the gas network and keep our customers in the area safe. We can only achieve this when our workforce enjoys a speedy and reliable service to make sure they are all on the road, ready to go to the next call.”

Fleet Solutions is planning further site updates across its extensive network of 64 garages and will be upskilling technicians as its vehicle maintenance and repair products continue to develop.

Unique to the industry is its nationwide 500-strong garage network coverage, of which 64 are owned and operated by Fleet Solutions and together ensure customers are never too far from a site.
