BT's new advertising campaign featuring Scottish actor Ewan McGregor will hit TV screens on Friday 17th April. The new campaign will see the renowned actor star alongside BT Sport Ambassadors and footballers Robin Van Persie and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, as they give viewers an entertaining insight into the world of advertising.

There will be two new adverts airing on Friday 17 April during the 'Gogglebox' break. The ads will be the first to air as part of a longer term "Behind the Scenes" campaign that will provide viewers with a humorous behind the scenes look into the making of an advert. The "Behind the Scenes" campaign is a parody of the advertising process and takes viewers on a journey into the making of an advert, from the casting of celebrities, rehearsals, pre-production meetings, post-production processes to voice over recordings.

Over the coming months the new campaign will feature a variety of famous actors, celebrities and leading sports personalities who will appear in amusing situations that poke fun at the world of advertising. The famous faces will star alongside a series of regular characters, including the "BT Clients", "The Director" and "The Ad Agency Creative", and will provide the voice of reason in comparison to the bizarre and entertaining vision of the some of the characters.

The first official advert will promote BT TV. Titled "Big Stunt", viewers will see a mysterious leather clad rider dramatically smash through the back wall of the set on a black Harley Davidson motorcycle followed by a flurry of spectacular pyrotechnics. They will then see Ewan McGregor questioning the "BT Clients" about the merits of the stunt, whilst he simply recites the BT TV offering of big sport, big entertainment, and big movies all for tiny prices. Viewers will also see BT Sport Ambassadors Robin Van Persie and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain just off screen alongside some Zombies and Vikings, to represent the breadth of content on BT TV.

Ewan McGregor will also star in another ad airing in the same ad break to promote BT Infinity. Titled "Silence", viewers will see Ewan McGregor sitting on a sofa with a laptop doing absolutely nothing. He questions the team behind the ad and is told that doing nothing reflects "the Ad Agency Creative's" vision of the BT Infinity Hub 5, which does everything for you so you don't need to do anything, and is BT's most reliable wireless connection ever - and that the silence in the room is the sound of reliability. Unfortunately the silence is then interrupted by "the Ad Agency Creative's" mobile ringing.

Ewan McGregor, actor, said: "I'm thrilled to be starring in this new campaign for BT. I hope the viewing public enjoy the action, alongside the laughs."

David James, BT Consumer Marketing Director, says: "BT is very excited to be launching its new marketing campaign. It follows our previous hugely popular campaigns, including Adam and Jane's love story as well as the flatmates. The public got to know these characters and took them into their hearts. We are confident that they will do the same with our new host of intriguing characters."

"BT has an extremely attractive TV and Broadband offer for consumers and we wanted to introduce these to the public, in an entertaining and unique way. After all, it is not often that you see Ewan McGregor hanging out with footballers Robin Van Persie and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, along with a group of zombies and Vikings. We have stuck with the humorous nature of our previous marketing campaigns which have proved so popular."

The new television campaign will be supported by a national outdoor advertising campaign that will run across the UK during the month of April. The campaign will also have a strong focus on digital and social media with activity across Facebook, Twitter and YouTube introducing viewers to the new characters.
