Manchester based cabling business signs new multi-million pound agreement with distribution partner

BT Cables and Connectix Cabling Systems strengthen long term relationship

Manchester-based BT Cables, a wholly owned subsidiary of BT which makes and distributes cable products, today announced a new multi million pound long term trading agreement with Connectix Cabling Systems of Braintree, Essex.

The agreement means that Connectix has been appointed the sole distributor of BT Cables’ range of data networking products throughout the UK and Ireland.

The new arrangement will enhance customer service levels with quicker delivery such as a next day service and free delivery for lower value orders.A wide range of complementary products will also be available as well as technical expertise and competitive and stable pricing will continue.

Paul Farrell, BT Cables commercial director, said: “We are delighted to have signed this agreement with Connectix which is significant for both parties. The new arrangements will improve both brands in this highly competitive market area, whilst delivering considerable customer benefits. We believe that the strong brand identity of BT Cables and the years of industry experience provided by Connectix will be a winning combination.”

BT Cables is the only major manufacturer of copper telecom cables in the UK and it makes and distributes a wide range of cabling products within the UK, Europe and the Middle East from its manufacturing facility in Blackley, Manchester.

It supplies cabling to a variety of industries and produces products such as fire resistant cables for fire detection and alarm systems; cabling for trackside rail signalling and security products such as CCTV.

The Manchester business has been a major employer in the North Manchester area over the years and generations of local people have worked there with 145 current employees.

The multi-million-pound agreement runs until the end of 2019 and further strengthens the long standing relationship between the two companies.

The two businesses are also working together on BT Cables’ new venture called BT Network Systems™ (BTNS™) which includes copper and optical fibre networks.

Established over 23 years ago Connectix is the UK’s largest independent structured cabling systems manufacturer, having to date supplied over 70 million links and supporting over 1,000 approved installers.

Connectix Cabling Systems products have been installed in a huge range of premises from iconic city office developments to the smallest of offices and homes.Connectix continues to develop copper and fibre networking systems for the ever growing array of IP-based applications that demand ever faster speeds and bandwidth.
