Alstom Transport signs with BT for global network

Summary

BT today announced it has been selected by Alstom Transport, one of the world’s leading providers of transport systems and solutions, to consolidate and optimise its global network infrastructure.

BT today announced it has been selected by Alstom Transport, one of the world’s leading providers of transport systems and solutions, to consolidate and optimise its global network infrastructure. Through this contract, BT will support the operations of Alstom Transport in more than 300 locations across 59 countries.

Under the terms of the agreement, BT will provide end to end network services from its BT Connect portfolio, including wide and local area networks, internet access, integration and maintenance services. Alstom Transport’s network will be managed and supported via BT’s Network Operating Centre in Paris.

The contract announced today supports Alstom Transport’s objective to create a single globally managed network, which will form the bedrock of its ICT infrastructure and services going forward.

Alstom Transport will also benefit from BT’s new Microsoft Azure ExpressRoute service. This service enables direct access to Microsoft applications by providing customers with the ability to connect directly to the Microsoft Office 365 productivity suite, ensuring high performance in a secure environment. Enabling customers to access applications directly in the cloud, whether it is a private or public cloud environment is a key element of BT’s Cloud of Clouds technology vision.
