BT Sport presenter Jake Humphrey is going to be pounding the streets of his home city Norwich after signing up to its first 10K run.

Jake will be lacing up his trainers and joining 3,800 runners, who have signed up to participate in the Norfolk event on Sunday August 30th.

Run Norwich is being sponsored by BT MyDonate, a fundraising service for charities that doesn’t take commission or charge a set-up fee. The event has been organised by Norwich City’s Community Sports Foundation and runners will get the chance to take in some of the city’s best-known landmarks, including the cathedral and castle before a grand finish outside City Hall.

One of the key aims of the race is to support local causes, and runners are being encouraged to fundraise for one of this year’s four official race charities- Norwich City’s Community Sports Foundation, Norwich Age UK, Nelson’s Journey and Norfolk Accident Rescue Service.

“The reason for this madness is that I’d like to prove that I can do it, but also because I passionately believe that sport can change lives,” said Jake.

“I’m really looking forward to taking part in the inaugural Run Norwich 10k around my home city and I will be trying to raise funds for the Norwich City Community Sports Foundation, of which I’m really proud to be a trustee.

“The foundation helps thousands of people every year to reach their potential. From two to 92, we are here for anyone and everyone.”

Sponsoring Jake, who fully admits to not being an athlete despite presenting sport on tv for a number of years, couldn’t be easier. He is using BT’s commission free online fundraising platform MyDonate and has a page with all the details of what you need to do. Jake’s page can be found atbt.com/jakes10k

Ian Thornton, Community Sports Foundation director said: “We were delighted when BT MyDonate came on board as main sponsor and official fundraising platform for Run Norwich. It’s important to us that as much money as possible goes to this year’s four official race charities so MyDonate was a great fit.”
