BT Means Business: Why actions speak louder than words

By Rob Shuter, CEO, Enterprise

We are in the midst of the fourth Industrial revolution, where connected devices, data analytics and artificial intelligence are changing the way all businesses operate and how they serve their customers.

Keeping pace with the demands of this increasingly complex world and making the leap to fully digital ways of working will determine which businesses will survive and thrive.

Which is why it’s a really brilliant time to be in BT, helping our customers take on that challenge and win.

And at BT, we are entering a truly exciting new chapter, too. Establishing BT as the flagship brand for our Enterprise and Global units enables us to build on the legacy we’re already renowned for – a business that puts our customers’ needs at the heart of everything we do.

Today we officially launch our brilliant new advertising campaign to show our customers that we really mean business. Featuring the BT Digital Marketing Hub – the new all-in-one advertising platform which helps small firms reach millions of potential new customers – our latest ads show our customers how BT can make running their business easier, so they can focus on what they do best. It’s going live across TV, Out of Home, Radio, Digital and Social platforms from today and signals a more confident, contemporary BT using a fresh look and feel.

In Enterprise, we serve more than a million customers here in the UK, from the smallest businesses right through to major corporates, the public sector and other communication providers - so we know a thing or two about what’s keeping our customers awake at night.

But complacency is the enemy of progress, and the environment all of us are operating in is changing all the time, so we’re constantly looking ahead to prepare ourselves and support our customers for the future and all it has to offer.

That’s why I’m delighted that this week we unveiled our first Enterprise Customer Charter, to complement our latest advertising campaign.  It’s a new set of commitments to help UK businesses and the public sector prosper and grow through our technology innovation, expertise, customer-first focus and purpose-driven approach.

o   BT will fast track technology innovation across the UK – so that businesses, communities and the UK economy can flourish

o   BT will use its expertise to take businesses into the digital fast lane and soup up security – like no other provider

o   BT will deliver standout customer experiences – making it easier to do business with

o   BT will continue to Connect for Good – through responsible, inclusive and sustainable tech – and will help its customers do the same

We know these commitments are important for our customers - because we asked hundreds of them to tell us what they need. They want to know that we’ll keep them ahead of the game on innovation and digital services, while delivering brilliant customer experiences and programmes which put purpose at the heart of our business. But beyond that, they also want an expert guide who helps them navigate the ever-changing world of technology, and who understands that it’s not better technology that that they want, it’s better outcomes for their business.

This deep understanding of our customers’ needs has driven the thinking behind this Charter, which includes bold targets and pledges for us to deliver on over the next few months and years. For example, we’ll be investing almost £100 million over the next three years in our Division-X unit to accelerate the development of new digital customer solutions; launching ground-breaking cyber defence and assessment tools to keep our customers’ businesses safe; and driving new circular and carbon abatement initiatives to support our customers’ Net Zero journeys.

I’m so proud of what BT is continuing to achieve as a brand that is truly part of the UK’s national fabric. Our Charter marks the start of a new chapter and we stand ready to help the amazing sole traders, start-ups, SMEs, corporates, the public sector and communication providers that we serve achieve their full potential and build a brighter future. That’s a pretty powerful legacy that everyone at BT can be proud of.
