Proud to announce our new UK charity partner, Home-Start

We’re so pleased to announce our new partnership with Home-Start, helping us reach disadvantaged families and give our colleagues a great cause for fundraising and volunteering opportunities.

So, who are Home-Start?

Home-Start is a charity that provides expert, volunteer-based family support to some of the UK’s most vulnerable families and disadvantaged children. Across all four UK nations, it supports 27,000 families and 56,000 children via 189 local charity offices.

Home-Start focuses on the early years to make the biggest difference, ensuring no child's future is limited. Supporting families with emotional, physical, and psychological needs, Home-Start works alongside parents, in their own homes, to ensure they have the skills, confidence and strength they need to nurture their children.

A shared vision for digital inclusion

Recent research through Home-Start's network has revealed that the 'digital divide' and access to digital technology is one of the biggest challenges that families face. With an approach as individual as the people they are helping, Home-Start is creating new ways to meet the changing needs of families.

At BT, we know how important connectivity is, and as we’ve witnessed these past 18 months, staying connected to one another can be a lifeline for many. Through our Skills for Tomorrow programme, we’ve helped 10 million people across the UK with their digital knowledge and confidence, helping people get – and stay – connected. We’re now setting an ambitious new goal that extends the target to reach 25 million people by 2026, helping to tackle the digital divide and supporting the UK’s economic recovery. In line with our purpose to Connect for Good, the new ambition aims to help more people across the UK have the tools they need to stay connected and make the most of life in the digital world.

That’s why we’re so pleased to announce our new UK charity partnership with Home-Start. Together, we have a shared vision to tackle the digital divide affecting the UK’s most vulnerable people and help them connect for good. This new partnership will help people improve their digital skills and also open up fantastic fundraising and volunteering opportunities for our colleagues.

Our partnership with Home-Start adds to our existing partnerships with UNICEF and the British Asian Trust. We're currently supporting UNICEF's VaccinAid appeal to help fund and deliver COVID-19 vaccines around the world by the end of 2021. And we've supported the British Asian Trust's fundraising campaign to provide vital oxygen to those who need it most in India as the country continues to battle with the pandemic.
